Nursery Nativity Play

The SHS Nursery Christmas Production is always a highly anticipated event...and this year, the children gave another

fabulous performance for parents and families.

They were very excited to perform at the Preparatory School on the big hall stage, and sang and danced their way through a magical nativity journey!

A very big Well Done to all our Lower and Upper Nursery children for all their hard work, beautiful singing, and concentration.

It was a wonderfully festive evening, with some very impressive choral and instrumental performances, and readings that

filled the room with Christmas Cheer!

Well Done to all pupils for their musical efforts in making this such a special event.

Well Done to all pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 who put on a fantastic Nativity on the big stage this week.  The children (and teachers) worked very hard, rehearsing across the term and practising lines and songs for their showcase to family and friends.  As always, this year's production was a huge success; we hope that parents enjoyed it as much as we did!

SHS Pupils crowdfund to reduce air pollution in Fulham

SHS pupils have been very busy this month with their fantastic campaign to decrease air pollution levels across the local borough. They did lots of their own research into how trees can help reduce air pollution by 24%, and have spent the last few weeks setting up a crowdfunding campaign online, and working hard advertising this across the school and their local community – persuading their friends, family and peers to donate pocket money to the cause!

They were absolutely thrilled to find that they managed to beat their target of raising enough money to plant 60 trees!

On the 28th November, as part of "National Tree Week," 37 pupils aged between 5 and 11 went to plant their own Hornbeams in Bishop’s Park.  We are very proud of how much effort the School Council have put into this green initiative and their impressive drive to reach their target; a huge well done to all involved!

Earth Education Project

Pupils had an exciting start to the week as Sinead from the Earth Education Project came to meet everyone at Sinclair House School. The Earth Education Project is SHS’s global charity of the year and we aim to raise £1,000 or more for the charity, which educates women, many of whom are mothers, in the capital city of Nicaragua.
The children were inspired by EEP’s brand “Chureca Chic”, which raises money through recycled jewellery to fund the education of 40 women a year, enabling them to direct their own destiny with an income and stable, safe future for their children.
A little word from Sinead from EEP following her visit:

“It was so lovely to be welcomed by Sinclair House School this week and be able to talk about EEP and Chureca Chic with everyone. The children were so engaged and inquisitive, and really connected with our team’s stories in Nicaragua. There were lots of great questions and everyone was very careful with the jewellery. We are so delighted to have the support of SHS and we are looking forward to seeing you all at the Christmas Fair in December!”

SHS Green Week

This week Sinclair House have been participating in “Green Week,” with a range of activities that challenge pupils to consider the environmental challenges of the world today, as well as sustainable solutions.

Children have had a morning without electricity, another without paper, an online anti-pollution campaign, recycling challenges, and a “trash into treasure” exchange. The School Council kicked off the week with their Monday morning assembly, and launched their Tree Campaign to combat air pollution in the borough.  They have secured an area with Hammersmith & Fuham Council to plant SHS trees…and have already crowdfunded enough money for 9 so far!

In English, Year 6S have been working hard on Green Week business plans, designing and presenting a green and sustainable business idea to their peers.

year 3 trip to fulham palace
Year 3 kick started their history topic on The Stone Age this week and had a very enjoyable and educational experience at Fulham Palace. The children eagerly took part in hands-on activities which gave them a wonderful insight into life as an archaeologist: drawing, describing and handling Stone Age flints; looking at replica objects and identifying their uses during Neolithic times. They also had a chance to imagine domestic life in Neolithic times as they carried out activities in the garden: hunting, gathering, grinding corn and weaving straw. They are really excited to carry on learning more about The Stone Age in our upcoming history lessons.

years 4 & 5 visit the
London wetlands centre
Year 4 and 5 had a fantastic sunny day to visit the London Wetlands Centre. They became field scientists, observing, collecting and analysing some pond wildlife. They also saw the otters being fed and enjoyed watching the birds from one of the many hides. It was a superb day out and many children are hoping their parents will take them back to discover even more of the wetlands.
