All pupils from Nursery upwards are exposed to a wide variety of performing arts, cultural and dramatic opportunities within school life.
Drama is both a popular and essential part of our school; this can be seen in the high-standard of performance during our end of term productions across the school and our brilliant class assemblies.
Drama is not only an engaging, fun and active lesson but it is critical to the development of self-confidence and effective team-working skills as well as providing children an important medium for self-expression.
Children are taught Drama by a specialist teacher from Year 3 as part of the curriculum, and they are encouraged to express their ideas and feelings through performance. Pupils are taught a range of acting techniques as part of speech and drama, as well as movement, and dance.
In Year 5 & 6, our children are taught the LAMDA curriculum within their Drama lessons and our pupils find great success when taking their LAMDA exams (optional).
In addition to their Drama lessons, children may opt to join the after-school LAMDA or Creative Movement clubs. SHS also offers a dedicated space for Dance lessons, where pupils can learn Ballet and other forms of Dance within an after-school Club.
