MUSIC AT SHS
At Sinclair House, we think that music is a unique way of communicating that can inspire and motivate children, as well as comprising an important vehicle for personal expression and pupil development.
We provide a variety of opportunities for all children to create, play, perform and enjoy music, and encourage them to hone the skills to appreciate a wide variety of musical forms as well as progressively develop their grasp of concepts and general musical knowledge.
Our pupils are taught music every week as part of the curriculum, but may also opt to take music as an after-school club.
Class Music lessons teach them about the broader aspects of musical history, as well as rhythm, tempo, pitch, international music and culture.
Individual tuition is also available for a wide range of instruments, and children benefit from private practice rooms on the school premises.
All pupils participate in the Sinclair House School Choir, and children may also be selected to sing in the Chamber Choir and opt to join the after-school "Broadway Singers," run by the school's Head of Music.
Pupils perform for parents across the academic year as part of school events, including the Instrumental and Ensemble Concerts, the Prep School Christmas Carol Concert and Nursery Nativity Play, and the annual SHS Summer Performing Arts Productions.
The school has also taken part in the Young Voices Concert at the O2 arena, joining a choir of over 7000 children performing with a live band, backing singers and professional musicians.
