With ICT increasingly dominating our society today, it is a critical part to our curriculum as our children need to develop the skills and confidence across a range of technology platforms. Our children need to use their understanding of ICT and utilise these technologies in their daily lives, as well as support and further their learning across the curriculum.
ICT is therefore embedded within all subject curriculums and holds a continuous presence within the learning at Sinclair House School.
Pupils are encouraged to adopt a creative approach to their ICT work and to explore a range of collaborative technologies. We also focus on developing the skills necessary for children to be able to use information in a discriminating, and effective way.
Lessons focus on building core skills such as word processing and touch-typing, spreadsheet modelling, design-based tasks (DT), compiling multimedia presentations, creating and manipulating databases and coding.
Coding is also a key learning area, and pupils use a range of programs such as Code.org, Purple Mash Coding, Kodu, Scratch, html, and Microbit.
Our classroom iPads help to build digital literacy and pupil motivation through a variety of educational apps, as well as providing valuable resources to improve literacy, numeracy and research skills in an engaging way.
ICT is essential to our children's future.
At SHS we aim to give them desire and the building blocks to further explore this ever-changing subject.
