The Preparatory

The first years of schooling are among the most important of a child's life. For it is during these formative years, children gain the skills and the confidence to allow them to achieve success in later life.

The personalised attention offered by our teachers ensures that pupils are individually nurtured through their progression and soon master the skills of reading, writing and mathematics in the early years. By offering a well-rounded curriculum, together with an extensive range of extra-curricular activities, we aim to inspire our children to find a joy in learning that will motivate them throughout their time at school.

Most teaching is class-based, although French, Music, Karate, Drama and P.E are taught by specialists. The children are given the opportunity to learn the keyboard in their music lessons. The children have fortnightly drama workshops where they have the opportunity to act before an audience in class productions, and in the annual Nativity Play. Drama is seen as crucial to developing self-confidence and teamwork.

The school takes full advantage of the rich variety of resources available in London in order to extend children's learning and interest in the projects covered. Frequent outside visits include popular venues such as the Science Museum, The V&A and Natural History Museum. In May 2010 children in the Year 2 Eagles travelled to Beijing on an exchange to visit our friends at Little Angels Nursery Schools. The trip proved to be an incredible success and we hope to plan many trips as such in future years to come.

Sinclair House School offers a values-led education and the School's Mission Statement is reflected in all its activities. Pupils are expected to be honest and hardworking whilst showing a genuine concern and compassion for each other and those in need.
