Eagles

Eagles Year 2 provides the culmination to both Foundation and Key Stage 1, where the skills and knowledge gained by the children are consolidated and extended. The Curriculum remains broad and creative, with opportunities for cross-curricular learning which enable children to extend their understanding through investigation, using practical as well as paper-based activities.

In addition the Eagles journey though Art History, studying Primitive Art, then Asian Art and finally the development of Western Art. This enables them to concentrate on simple forms, then to explore shape, colour and pattern. Finally they learn perspective drawing and experiment with the styles of famous artists though the ages, before being introduced to the world of Modern Art. Visits to the V&A, the National Gallery and the Tate Gallery are organised regularly.

Our approach to science for the children is investigative; developing scientific skills that the children will use and extend in their later studies, promoting logical and disciplined thought and a wider understanding of the world around us.

The year also focuses on developing the children’s organisational and personal skills, to help them to meet the challenges of the Falcons Year Three.
